The City Manager's obligation is to carry out the policies and programs approved by the City Council and to provide administrative leadership for the City. In a Council/Manager form of government, the City Council sets policy and the City Manager is charged with the day-to-day administration of the City government.
Since February of 2001, Dan Newell has been serving as City Manager for the City of Yerington. During his professional career, he has served in executive positions, in both the private sector and now in the public sector. Prior to his tenure with the City of Yerington, Dan served for seven years as Fire Chief at the Hawthorne Army Depot where he served as the Emergency Response Coordinator for the Depot, including fire, rescue, medical and hazardous materials coordination and response. He is a life-time member of the Nevada State Fireman’s Association and is a retired member of the Yerington Volunteer Fire Department.
Dan was born and raised in Yerington, is married to wife Vicky and has two children, seven grandchildren and enjoys ATV’s, shooting and fishing.
